		<description>A very enjoyable article!  However, you didn&#039;t mention one of the more important characteristics of the Aubrey/Maturin series, its technical accuracy.  His terminology is proper for the period, his language successfully walks the line between accuracy of dialect and understandability, and his descriptions of ships and battles are...well, accurate.

You also neglected to mention another noteworthy series on the 18th Century British navy, Alexander Kent&#039;s Richard Bolitho series.  It is notable for exploring the leadership qualities of naval officers (and in several cases their lack).</description>
